I WAS A DIFFIDENT GIRL!

08 August, 2022

”I WAS A DIFFIDENT GIRL!”

Kellia T., is a 13 years old girl living with her parents. She is a second born in a family of 3 children.

Kellia is a student in primary six at Busasamana primary school. she is one of beneficiaries Speak Out project had started with.

Comparing how this young girl was at the beginning of the project and now, a big difference is realized that even people in her surrounding testify. Before being recruited in Speak Out, Kellia was lonesome, timid to speak in class as well as in the safe space. She was very shy.

In her own words, she said: It took me some time to socialize with others in the safe space. As the days went by I started making friends. In the safe space I learned much about gender based violence, its types and how I can stay away from violence. I got to know where to report when someone’s rights are violated. Speak Out project helped me to feel free and express how I feel without fearing that someone might laugh at me. I am now confident and no longer afraid to speak like before.

There is even more….

I also learned ways to engage in self-development like savings. My wish is to share what I learned with other girls at school and in our neighborhood.
