About the STEP UP! Program

09 November, 2020

Since 2018, Resonate has partnered with the US Embassy of Kigali to design and implement a girls’ empowerment program for recent high school graduates in Rwanda. The program, called ‘Step Up!’ was launched in December 2018 and aimed to build self-confidence, critical soft skills and practical project planning skills, that would complement the traditional education they received in high school. Most participants were in their “gap year”, a crucial decision-making time in the lives of Rwandan youth, as they have to decide about their future, and whether or not they wish to pursue university studies or in professional careers.

Considering the significant success of the first and second rounds of the Step Up! Program, Resonate partnered with Association des Guides du Rwanda (AGR) to deliver Step Up 3. It is in this regard that AGR is looking for Chaperones to accompany the participants throughout the programme.

Minimum requirements for the candidates:

  • Being an active girl guide aged 22-28
  • Secondary school graduate
  • Complies with AGR safeguarding code of conduct
  • Good communicator
  • Able to speak and write Kinyarwanda
  • English language skills are also preferred
  • Spirit of volunteerism
  • Enthusiastic, warm energetic, open & progressive, engaging, and keen to make a contribution to the community & society
  • Proactive
  • Creative
  • Team player
  • Aptitude to play the role of a chaperone to six girls
  • Being able to avail herself whenever needed for Step Up 3 events
  • Able to use Social Media is an added value

Bear in mind that this opportunity is equal to all girl guides, and the selection process will treat fairly all candidates. This form is open from 11 November to 15 November 2020
