The Routes are the branch aged between 18 and 25 years old. They are the oldest branch of the young members. Those members composed the leadership action of the movement. They are involved in different positions with responsibilities. In this branch, Girl Guides are young adults, they acquired skills during their former years as Girl Guides , and time has come for them to practice them, to develop new ones and also to share it with the younger Girl Guides as their elders.
There is no obligation for them to have a unit or a special group only composed exclusively with Routes. However most of them create by their own groups or are integrated as young leaders in unit or groups where they can take action, or plan project. Association des Guides du Rwanda invited them also to participate to activities, leadership of groups and for ones who desire follow training in order to invest themself even more in the movement.
Training is an essential component of the this age bracket. Association des Guides du Rwanda tries to give them opportunities of training during all their life as Routes and even after. They can apply since they have 18 years old to unit leader training, allowing them to at the head of a unit. They can also apply to a training to become animator and be in charge of the development, the management and coordination of all the branches in a unit.
Routes can also apply to other positions, as trainers or commissioners. To be trainer, there is a path to respect. Each young women has to be assistant trainer and after a trainer, and can continue to be trainer of trainers. In another way they can follow another path. It consists to become commissioner, at first district commissioner, then provincial and national commissioner. The two branches allow them to integrate the National Bureau. For all those positions trainings are requested, meaning that they always developing their competences.
More over this branch has also specific programs, as Youth Exchange South to South program or seminars as Juliet Low seminar allowing them to discover other ways to life guiding and improve their talents.
Their uniform are made of a green skirt , a white shirt, and a blue and white scarf.
